Design to me is a medium that brings order to chaos. Design is not only an art form but also a means to help people find better ways to communicate their ideas. As a designer, it’s my responsibility to create solutions that are beautiful yet logical. Most of my inspiration comes from simple, sophisticated design. However, there is a place for both simple design and complex design as long as the message is delivered effectively. Type used with shapes, as well as texture characterize my work. Lester Beall’s use of shapes and images, type within type and type with shapes inspires me. My style can be defined as simple and straight to the point. Images, quotes, fashion, stickers, textured paper are a few references used to inspire me. Design is a global art form because every organization or business needs the help of a creative mind to bring their ideas to life in an orderly and aesthetically beautiful way.
When presented with a project, determining a vision of what the design should convey is the first step. After there is a clear direction, it is vital for me to research the subject matter. Design is exciting because it can’t be done alone. Counting on a community of people and other creatives for inspiration is crucial for good design.
