From: Stefan Liske's Portfolio
Moonraker was a multidisciplinary, special innovation project, initiated by Stefan Liske, PCH Berlin-Los Angeles GmbH; established to re-imagine the entire development process, strategy and products for the US Market. Inspired by the first US lunar mission, the Volkswagen "Moonraker" team has employed several innovative methods to accomplish a myriad of pressing goals. The team lived and worked together in a project house in Malibu, California as they strove to understand the inner workings of the American way of life.
One important tool the team was developing is a system of "Life Settings" that forecasted futuristic lifestyle themes and scenarios for the year. 2020. The future life settings consisted of four built environments representing diverse customer segments that will be used to understand and anticipate their needs and demands.
To this end, Moonraker had secured Graft LLC architects to jointly develop these sets in a 12,000 sf. facility located in Los Angeles, California. The completion date was November 22, 2005.
This program showcased future appropriate technologies, concepts, brands and products in an engaging way. All contributors had full access to the sets, a further benefit was the opportunity to see what other industries project for the near future and utilization of the stage for internal presentations. This was a crucial step in establishing meaningful and ongoing relationships between Volkswagen and external partners.
