From an early age, Tim Sutton suspected that he saw the world differently.
Criss-crossing the country every year in the family sedan, Tim was never bored the way he knew most kids were while traveling long summer miles on vacation. The passing countryside , small towns, and all the other cars on the road etched themselves into his young mind.
Later Tim found expressive outlet through painting and sculpture. Though interested in all visual media, it took a serious car accident to provide direction. Emerging from weeks in a hospital bed, Tim found himself focused on a new passion, one that would prove to be his life’s work- Photography. It was when he picked up a camera, that the early road trips came to mind and he realized that he had experienced the whole country through the frame of a backseat window.
Studying at The Art Institute of Colorado, he was naturally drawn to automotive photography and later, the West Coast.
Now, with an expansive list of successful collaborations with top auto makers and television networks such as Toyota, Acura, Honda, Speed Channel, FOX and many more, Tim is also exploring commercial video and fine art gallery shows to further his creative expression.
Tim is always looking for new ways to sharpen his tools in the visual arts, for new techniques designed to push imagery forward in this fast paced ever evolving world.
Automobiles and visual expression are the two constants in Tim Sutton’s life. And through the nuance and inventiveness of his images, he consistently confirms his early suspicions- he clearly sees the world differently. Read Less
