Over the years, my art has expressed my personal experience and has served as a mirror for the concrete and brick landscape that I grew up in. As I’ve evolved as an artist and matured as an individual, I’ve learned to interrogate and hold up for discussion the soci-economic realities of my world by reducing social issues like urban dwellings, corny humor, and ideas like black masculinity into visual icons.
As I broadened my education, I became increasingly frustrated with the two-dimensional limitations of simple pen and ink drawings and simultaneously drawn to digital media. Combining vector and drawing gives my illustrations completion and allows a more authentic representation of the true complexity of the problems, themes and issues at the center of my work.
