Jungle Als Beachfront Resort in the Osa Peninsula, Puntarenas, Costa Rica had me design the complete advertising identity package of logo, poster, brochure and website. The website has since been "improved" by others, but you know how that goes... :-(
I just loved the name, which incidentally is the name of an actual person, a prince of a man and a great friend beyond being the best client I could ever ask for.
About the work... well... as usual, I followed my intuition, coming off of the impression the name "Jungle Al's" gave me, which was sort of a 30's Clutch Cargo (anyone remember that?) thing... hence the title font, Grauman, which I think is absolutely excellent... pure "retro!"
about the poster... the "star" of the piece is definately the Lapa (parrot), but I got a lot of flack about that for a simple misunderstanding. Here in Costa Rica, there are a variety of Parrot called "Scarlet Macaws" in English, or "Lapas Rojas" en espaƱol... and they do NOT have any green plumage as does this handsome model... that's because this is a one-of-a-kind mixed breed who lives at a Parrot Reserve in Alajuela where the dedicated owners rescue and breed parrots for return to the wild. So this is a mixed breed between a Green and a Red Macaw.
