I am an Atlanta-based photographer doing Altglass photography and (mostly) black & white available light photography.

So what does this mean? Available light photography (alp)? Put simple it means: throw away all the tech stuff such as flashs, reflectors, etc. and do it the “natural” way, using the natural, available light. You might wonder now if this is just another way to be fancy or to do something simple in a complicated way. The answer is no. The big difference is that the images are so much more natural, realistic, and authentic. Also, each shooting is so much more about doing the right things at the right time.

Sure, I have to admit that I started doing available light photography out of necessity. I just couldn’t afford buying expensive equipment and so I learned to use what I had: my camera. In the beginning I just used a Canon EOS 450D with the kit lens – nothing else (except for a tripod sometimes). Even though times have changed now, I still believe in this minimalistic concept. Those nay-sayers might contemplate that this is because I am incapable of using sophisticated equipment. Maybe. Read Less
