Common Ground Church

Cape Town, South Africa
I grew up in a poor home, living in a disadvantaged community. After matric I started working in the photographic industry working in the dark room processing film. I then started printing black and white photographs. One day the photographer was sick they asked me to fill in and this was my introduction to portrait photography. I took to photography very fast and was good at it. I was working for a company called Multifoto as the studio photographer. In 2004 the owner relocated to Germany. He closed down his studio and I was retrenched. At that time I applied for a bursary to go and study photography at the Ruth Prowse School of Art. I studied and found cheap accommodation at a church organization for three years.

During my first year I met a journalist who worked for the Natal Witness as a political correspondent based in Cape Town. She asked me if I would do the photography for some of the stories she was covering at the time. The money earned from this job helped cover some of my study costs. I worked with this journalist for three years. After three challenging years I was awarded my diploma in photography at the end of 2007.

At the beginning of 2008 I found a part-time job at Media24 working on fashion and food shoots. I was an assistant to photographer Jan Rus. I gained valuable experience in setting up lighting, working with reflectors and diffusors as well as many other aspects of managing a shoot. I have a good understanding of how the world of photography works. I am very creative, hard-working, a quick learner, good with my hands, meticulous and this makes me well suited for this position. I am able to follow instructions carefully and consistently, I enjoy working as part of a team and get along well with others. Should my application be successful I am able to start immediately and you can be assured of my dedicated and disciplined attention to duties at all times.

I am extremely motivated to work for a company and look forward to your response.

Yours Sincerely
