I have been inspired by photography my whole life. My father was in the military and traveled the world taking photographs of all the places he had been. I grew up constantly reminiscing through all of his photo albums and imagining what it might have been like for him when he was taking those pictures. He had given me his cameras as I was growing up and I began making my own photo albums. When digital technology became more affordable for the public I was very much against it and felt that it took away from the artistry of photography. It took me 10 years to give into buying a digital camera. I immediately fell in love. Growing up, I was always told the profession was too competitive and "not a realistic pursuit as a career." I never stopped. I took pictures when I traveled, during party’s and events, and even learned how to take pictures as an investigator collecting evidence or conducting training while I was in the military. I had aspired to become a Marine Biologist and had become scuba wet suit and dry suit certified. Life circumstances had steered me into a different career direction. Now, I've finished my military career and am in my senior year of college as a Arts and Technology Major. So, with my love for the ocean and my determination to establish my career, I started my own photography business, which I appropriately named Syrenia Imagery, for the symbolism in the meaning for where my life has led me and where I have been.
