Even if you’ve never heard of Swifty you can bet your life you’ve seen or even own a piece of his artwork. For two decades this man has cast an innovative and distinctive visual shadow over contemporary culture as we know it.
Starting out at The Face magazine under the watchful eye of Neville Brody it wasnt long before he left to persue his own career. He’s best known for designing the magazine ‘Straight no Chaser’ . Firmly planting himself in the music industry a whole heap of record covers for the likes of Talkin Loud and Mo wax were produced and even more club flyers ! ‘Typomatic’ was the first independent font foundry to be set up in the Uk and his art direction won best use of a single medium at the Media Week awards in 1996 for the Fosters Ice Street Art campaign. He’s also designed title sequences for British TV for the likes of Derren Brown, Smack the Pony and Peep Show. He also designs Camo patterns and t-shirts for Addict clothing company that show another side of that versatile Swifty style.
A precursor to the urban art aesthetic - Swifty also produces his own brand of skateboards t-shirts and fine art, indeed there isnt much this man can’t do! Read Less
