StudioCHU is the online portfolio of Julian Pablo Manzelli, artist, designer and animation director. After a youth influenced by skateboarding culture, travel and biology, he graduated as graphic designer at the University of Buenos Aires, where he continues as a teacher. His style has developed through a process of constant experimentation, collaborative work, science and urban action. In 1998, after working in important studios of Buenos Aires, he formed DOMA Collective with Mariano Barbieri, Matias Vigliano and Orilo Blandini. A multidisciplinary and experimental art group, where he still develops as an active member. As a part of the group, he discovered Public Art, specialized in Animation, Toy Design and Art Installations.
From 2001 to 2004 Chu was also part of artistic team behind the legendary "Locomotion Channel," a cult animation channel broadcast throughout Latin America and Iberia. At the same time, he collaborates with major TV channels internationally and works on experimental visuals at UndoProject.
In recent years he devotes himself actively to the painting, prioritizing muralism and urban actions around the world. His style is characterized by the use of characters with curved shapes and the creation of geometric-abstract universes. In this development, is introduced into object creation and polychrome magnetic sculptures using wood and automotive lacquer. Going from the wildly expressive street art, to the obsessive and precise studio works.
StudioCHU remains committed to the production of Animation from original concepts and characters, highlighting projects like GLOBOLAB and ALTAS GAFAS (MightyShades). He also serves as a director and consultant to various animation projects internationally. Read Less
