Stuart Hobday — a UK based designer and son of lithographic printer R.P Hobday (1944-2011), who spends his days designing and developing websites using a pencil, paper, software and a variety of CMS platforms.

Having had an interest in architecture, design and technical drawing from an early age, grids and a use of white space have always been an integral part of what I create. I find inspiration within the pages of print publications, world cinema and photography – a discipline in which I am not, nor claim to be, a professional but simply use to capture those unedited memories that may otherwise become lost.

With both my late father and his father being involved in the lithographic print industry, it seemed natural for me to enter into a creative profession; and one in which I am continually learning, totally self taught, passionate about and always inspired by. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate, as my job allows me to pursue the things I love.

My site, The Printer's Son, acts as a collation of thoughts and ideas, gathered inspirations and documented moments, created for the sole purpose of reminding myself. Read Less
I specialise in clean, grid-based web layouts, whose inspirations are derived from architecture, art, design, film, photography and publications. CMS platforms used include, but not limited to, Squarespace (v5 & v6), Big Cartel, Shopify, Tumblr and Cargo.
I have been very privileged to be able to produce work for a number of clients and collaborators which include, but is not limited to, Inventory Magazine, HIUT Denim, The 25 Mile, The DO Lectures, Free/Man, Thomas Dyckhoff, Esme Winter, Blitz Motorcycles, and Hole & Corner, Simpson and Anorak magazines.
