Schmid was born in Nassau, Bahamas on June 6th, 1987 to a Bahamian mother and German father. In 2010, he began a formal education in art at the College of the Bahamas. While pursuing his associate’s degree, Schmid’s work has been featured in several galleries throughout New Providence including The Central Bank of the Bahamas, Popopstudios ICVA and The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas. Currently, Schmid is a recipient of the Popopstudios ICVA Junior Residency Prize and is expected to study abroad and expand his artistic practice to include digital film and time based media.
