I work intuitively using methods and material from personal influences and am inspired by issues of identity. I investigate spontaneity of form; searching for undefined structures that are as seemingly at ease as they are unnatural and find the process as important as the end result.
The conceptual basis of this experimental process of locating the individual by working from drawing-creating installations by a process of using materials expressively and the three areas I am working with are:
1.How the spontaneity of form appropriates space; the gesture of the hand learns how to think itself through.
2. Investigating a space as a container for thoughts.
3. Exploring one’s own body “the realm of narcissistic and sexual investment” the process of casting out and retrieving thought to create form.
The subject of my work is volume, process and a physical dialogue with material. The relationship of shape, texture and space, like a well-composed poem, has a structure and meaning that is implicit, rather than explicitly defined. Material and drawing are two focal aspects of my work. I explore volume, texture, line and space in my drawing and consider the sculptural work that I do, a straight derivative of these ideas. I sometimes use found objects in my work that can inherently suggest the content in an abstract language. I am not the subject of my investigation but a practitioner trying to take on the embodiment of a liberated perspective. Read Less
