Stefan Venbroek is an illustrator and visual artist. He graduated in 2005 at the University of Arts in Utrecht, direction illustration. He studied graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Since then he has his own professional practice. His work balances between commissioned work and free autonomous artworks. The projects he works on are varied, from art for public spaces to animations to illustrations for magazines. With his autonomous works he exhibits internationally.

For his commissioned work he has developed a flexible style in which he composes (digital) collages from his illustrations, paintings and photographic elements. He finds inspiration in everyday scenes in which the human figure is often central or fairytale worlds that he combines with abstract patterns, textures and bright colors. The combination of traditional techniques and modern technology creates a layered and contemporary look. For each project, he strives for innovation and satisfaction of the client.

In his autonomous works, he is looking for more artistic freedom in form and technique. Often the drawings and paintings are interpretations of images that he finds in his own archive and to which he feels instinctively attracted. At the same time complex and intuitively he combines shape, color and texture to create a strong sense of power and dynamism. The contrasting, figurative and abstract pictorial elements encourage the viewer to see familiar topics in fresh and challenging ways. Read Less
