Doing Business As:

Creative Fields:
Shout Out!
born in france, i chose to become a new yorker at the age of 20. after studying philosophy, theology, photography, and filmmaking at, respectively, the sorbonne, parsons school of design and new york university, and spending years dabbling in each, it came time to actually choose a profession. i asked myself, why choose just one? THE APARTMENT was born of all the things i care about in my life: design, imagery, products, love, friendship, music, technology, art, and fashion, realizing that all of these have one thing in common when successful - consideration. as the conductor of this grand orchestra, my role is to encompass a team's life experiences into a symphony that will not just bring financial or practical value to the listener, or user, or occupant, but emotional benefit that will then become part of their own life experience.

woody allen once said, "i have no idea what i am doing but incompetence has never prevented me from plugging in with enthusiasm." that is exactly how i live my life. and i am intent on living a considered one, no matter what.
THE APARTMENT CREATIVE AGENCY
our nyc-based agency offering fully integrated branding, marketing, architecture and interior design services was born from a need to consider our lives, bit by bit, little by little, thoroughly, absolutely.

an apartment is where you live. an apartment is where you do all the things in your life that matter, where you cook, read, sleep, listen to music, make sweet, sweet love, watch movies, talk, blog and get dressed. most importantly, it is the place you get to shape so it looks and feels like you. funny thing, that's exactly what the apartment does! co-founding the apartment in 2000 with my partner gina alvarez, first as an experiment in retail as theater and then as a creative agency serving the needs of a cultural community thirsty for stylish punditry and serving that community with services such as architecture, interior design, branding and marketing, often all at once but never chaoticous. and even though 'chaoticous' might not be a real word, the apartment's and my goal stand the same: to tell a good story, with a beginning, middle and end even if not necessarily in that order; to invent, always.
THE APARTMENT BROADCAST
there was time when i was shy, a time when i dared not speak my mind. then a friend of mine dared me to try marmite, the british acquired taste. i was no longer able to shut up after that. it threw down the rabbit hole of popular culture out of which i have not been able to exit. the theaptBROADCAST is a daily cultural column curated by an all-star team of life commentators as well as myself. we write about all in life that we find funny, scandalous but, above all, interesting.

after all, that's the point isn't it, to lead interesting lives?...
MEET AT THE APARTMENT
based in the storied space we have inhabited for the past 10 years at 101 crosby street in new york city, meet at the apartment has been designed to re-interpret the concept of meeting spaces and make the experience more productive and more fun. since the days of the apartment design store, we have known, and relied on, the power of community for ideas to expand, minds to be changed and inspiration to bloom and meet at the apartment is the way to take advantage of that power.

our upstairs lounge is designed to invigorate your creative juices and help
you re-imagine your product, re-invent your business or simply pitch an idea. and for those slightly more serious meetings, the downstairs boardroom with ample projection space and an attached green room for private meetings is just the solution.

come meet, at the apartment

lovely :) i have spent about two minutes reading text..... something i don't do really often.... nice ideology you have. it seems one thing i thought - that philosophy is for people who don't really know what to do with their lives was a bit wrong....in this case it seems it helped with building the base hah.... anyways it's not that of course. i'm always happy when seeing people who love what they do - it's so transparent that everybody sees it.... so congrats. keep goin' :)
