About
"In 2005, I began reinventing myself, with a measure of Buddhist serenity, into starvinartist...

A starving artist is a term with immediate connotations of a person sacrificing material well being in order to focus on their artwork. As a free spirit championing creativity, this starvinartist remains true to the name, producing work that provokes thought and experience rather than to simply satisfy a mainstream market.

My work is most widely recognised for it's sophisticated approach in the use of pencil, ink and watercolours... an award winning style joining the dots between illustration, graphic design and street art. Noticeably influenced by art nouveau, graphic comics and mythology, I explore questions of beauty and identity. The real and supernatural are common place in my work, imagining images, characters and worlds that are hyper-real.

For a professional dreamer who spend most of his time musing alone, I still love an opportunity to explore new contexts: whether through collaboration with others, in scale, the approach to materials or the ideas themselves. Over the years, i've incorporated video, interactive/ installation art, fashion design/ wearable art into my skills bank, to build a better understanding of my work and a clearer voice to express myself...

... producing visual art is as much about listening to that small inner voice inside, as it is producing work for the outside world."

Style says who we are, what we think, where we feel we belong and what we separate ourselves from. Thus style is an important component of a persons identity and the way they present themselves… welcome to mine*
