I’m a Dutch illustrator and crochet character designer.
My crochet animals usually have a woolly and natural look. For each project my goal is to create a playful doll with it’s own character. An expressive creature that radiates the enjoyment and the love I put into it while designing.
In most of my illustrations I try to bridge the gap between fine art and illustration. The extent to which that is possible depends on the assignment, but nevertheless I try to move back and forth between these worlds as much as possible.
I work with acrylic paint or watercolour. My acrylic paintings are almost indistinguishable from oil paintings. My work is detailed and colourful. Light and atmosphere I consider one of the most important aspects. Adding personalities to the characters in my illustrations is something I also pay much attention to. My artwork has a sweet and funny character, something that gives you a thought or a laugh.
