About Me

Steven Nicholas Neamonitakis is a twenty year old Graphic Designer and student. His current objective is to gain as much experience as possible in the world of Design by taking part in internships, freelance work, part time jobs and personal endeavors. Steven is currently studying to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design at Purchase College, State University of New York. His main career objective is to eventually succeed as a Graphic Designer, Art Director, Web Designer, Advertising Artist, Type Designer or all/any of the above.

What is design?

This is a question that I ponder about daily. I try to imagine what life was like before design and how it was dealt with. But, that just lead me to think that perhaps learning to cope with something is design itself. Figuring out how to deal with something; making something easy enough to do or take part in so that we may subsist. The only problem with this is that if we want to now democratize this design, we must make sure that it is transparent and instantaneously understood.

Graphic Design for instance is just execution of explaining a thought process visually. It is transforming thoughts into a tangible visual form, to explain a decision making process. When looking at the work of another designer, one must realize that they are witnessing thoughts, visualized.

This is why I love design. I love seeing how people think. I love knowing that there are people that try to make life easier on a daily basis; that want to help out the human race. This is a truly optimistic profession and I am glad to be a part of it.
