I’m a designer and second-generation creative director who has been in the advertising business pretty much my whole life.
My first taste of Graphic Design and Print production came at the very early age of 15. As generations before me, you could say I was destined to follow in the foot steps of my father to be a great graphic designer with as many awards and knowledge under my belt as he has.
For years after I studied boundlessly, reading books and finding what I felt was “GREAT DESIGN”. At 22 I used my wide range of design software previously learned through my father to the Art Institute of Atlanta. This was a huge advantage to not only myself but AIA as I was called on time and time again to teach workshops for Flash, Quark, PhotoShop, Illustrator, any many more.
You could say that years of speaking in front of 20 to 30 students at a time at such a young age brought along a passion for speaking at conferences and conventions of over 100 attendees later in my career.
As the internet bubble grew I started to be fascinated by the GREAT WORLD WIDE WEB and challenged myself daily to not only learn more about great design on the web. I realized quickly in my career how important it is for a graphic designer to always be apart of the web world.
Before leaving the agency world I created award winning integrated advertising for clients like 99x, Laura Ashley, Dave Mathews Band, Disney, Seimens, BetterTrades, Ole Miss, Verizon and others. All that work has been recognized with over 40 major awards including Best of Branding, CLIO awards, Local Regional and National awards, W3 Awards and International Horizon award.
This blog is an extension of collection of rants, resources, observations and advice about Websites, usability design, technology, the advertising industry and who knows what else that are just too well done, funny or weird. Just to be clear the thoughts and opinions you read here or on any of my social networks are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer or clients.
I live in Georgia and in an hour from now I will probably be locked away in my studio slowly going blind working on a new design. Almost like a mad scientist eagerly rubbing my hands together waiting to shout those words “ITs ALIVE!!!”
Years of experience and truly understanding a clients needs and wants motivated me to start my own business. I tapped my entrepreneurial
spirit and founded Alcovy Creative in 2005. In its three year history, the company has grew quickly. With more than 300 clients and over 42 international awards in web development, branding, and graphic design under my belt I can
now say I have fulfilled my dream. Due to this success it was Alcovy Creative that won Business of the Year in 2007-2008.
I was very excited to see how fast the company grew not only in popularity but also winning Business of the Year. But I got an offer I couldn’t refuse and sold the business when I realized I desperately missed working in the corporate world and started a new chapter in my life.
I have always been told I have a natural ability to motivate and inspire creative teams to deliver superb creative work under tight deadlines. I am very fortunate to have something in my life that makes me laugh, smile and create everyday. Read Less
