"Sarah Vierstraete is a young illustrator currently doing a master degree in Cultural Studies in Leuven after having finished a bachelor degree in Graphic Design and a master degree in Illustrations and Comic Art. Most of her work is done in black and white, using huge amounts of ink. The fine detail and large dark or blank areas create wonderful contrasts. In her work you can find the influences of Aubrey Beardsley and the Japanese genre, Ukiyo-E, but also traces of Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi or Craig Thompson's Habibi. Her work has already been exhibitioned in several cities in Belgium, but mostly Brussels and she has been part of a group exhibition in Paris. Apart from illustrative work she keeps herself busy with graphic design, photography and her love for record hunting." Read Less
