Illustration Portfolio 2009

Sam's distinctive illustrations often feature human figures and observational elements. Combining digital and analogue techniques, they have been featured on websites and in books, comics and exhibitions all over the world. Sam produced numerous illustrations for both the set and key scenes of No Heroics, an ITV sitcom produced by Tiger Aspect Productions, airing in September 2008 on ITV2.

Working Title recently commissioned Sam to create an illustration for a test shoot of 'Paul', the forthcoming movie project from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with Greg 'Superbad' Mottola directing.

Movie Portraits

When I was first getting started, before I had any commissions I built up a portfolio with images inspired by the movies I love. I thought I'd collate a few personal and professional examples of them here for you, both old and new. And naturally if there are any movie-related publications out there, I'd love to hear from you.

Hot Fuzz

llustration inspired by the movie Hot Fuzz, featuring all the main characters in the style of a classic movie poster collage. Director Edgar Wright kindly send me a disc of high resolution images from the movie. Judging by his comment, I think he was very pleased with the result: "Oh my God - that's amazing!!!" . A canvas will soon hang in his office alongside my Shaun of the Dead piece from a couple of years ago (see www.sam-gilbey.com/illustration)
