Sally Gardner is an award-winning freelance illustrator, graphic designer, and letterpress printer. She illustrated and co-created the Splurch Academy for Disruptive Boys children's book series published by Penguin Books for Young Readers, which used a hybrid graphic novel/early chapter book format. She also spent several years working as an in-house graphic designer for Cisco Systems, working primarily on designing infographics and executive PowerPoint presentations. Currently she is the proprietor of Pup Tent Press, a fine art letterpress printshop.

Sally's approach to all her visual projects is first, to communicate something as simply and clearly as possible, and second, to be as silly as possible, when she can get away with it. She works primarily with digital tools, but always starts with pencil and paper. Sally has a particular fondness for old machines, especially antique printing presses.

Sally lives in both New York City and upstate New York. She's available for teaching classes, workshops, and school or library visits. Read Less
