After being a Co-Owner of various Melbourne hospitality establishments from the age of 22, a career change was bought about due to my preference for designing the concept/menu/overall visual/dining space as opposed to the day to day running of a hospitality venue. I commenced studying towards a Bachelor of Environmental Design (Architecture) but after a year of CAD and technical drawings I realised I needed to aim towards a more creative career; one less stifled by building codes and council permits.
After assisting a Graphic Designer/Stylist friend on a project of hers I realised that if I could get paid to work as a Creative Director/Stylist then I would be one very happy person. I commenced studying another Bachelor of Design (with some credits from my year at Architecture) but this time with a specialisation in Styling/Creative Direction at Whitehouse Institute of Design, which introduced me to the ins and outs of organising photography shoots. Combined with regular stints assisting various Stylists and Photographers, my confidence in my ability to create a good visual has grown - this former restaurant owner no longer feels out of his league in the Fashion world...
Since getting a Canon 5D Mk II last December I have discovered an intense passion for Photography and being behind the actual camera as opposed to Creatively Directing or Styling the shoot. I still love Styling and Creative Direction but Photography is now my first calling. Read Less
