My name is Ryan Furlonger and I am a Graduate Architect, working and playing in South East Queensland.
I am most inspired by place and culture specific architectures. I believe my style has strong flavours of a Queensland tradition, and I strive to design contextually suitable architecture with a character which can resonate within the locality in which it stands.
Also I am driven to see a change in architecture: I endeavour to continuously explore the idea of a deconstructable architecture, an architecture which by applying ‘cradle to cradle’ theory has the option to beneficially be decomposable organically or fully upcyclable. This I believe is a critical ambition for a sustainable architecture of the future.
My experience in rural design /build is worth noting: I, for over two years now have been the architectural designer on a multi disciplinary team (predominately engineers) designing and building works for indigenous communities within rural Queensland for Engineers Without Borders.
Considering my ‘hands on’ experience, I have a developed understanding of how a building comes together, down to the nitty gritty. I couple this with a keen interest in tectonic expression, hopefully endeavoring to achieve a refined materiality within my architectural design.
Finally I believe I have exceptional person to person skills, and I pride myself on my ability to communicate with anyone and to take the lead. With that in mind please feel free to contact me, with any questions or propositions in mind. Read Less
