Chris Round is an ideas-based advertising creative who now mixes both advertising consulting work with photography. In advertising he has worked both as an art director, writer and Creative Director.
He has always believed advertising should be more than one-way communication. Even in traditional media his ideas have understood the target audience and engaged them on a cultural level. But this belief became truly evident when, in 2002, he created the multi-channel 1900-9-JIMBEAM that set a new benchmark for integration in Australian advertising. The next year it won the coveted Grand Prix at Cannes in 2003, only the third in Australian history at the time. It has been said that the Jim Beam campaign's level of integration prompted the need for a new category - the Titanium and Integrated Lions.
Chris's creative philosophy has followed him as a senior creative from Young & Rubicam Sydney, to M&C Saatchi and to Naked Communications where, as Head of Ideas, he played a major role in them winning AdNews Agency of the Year for 2006. Chris has also worked as a creative group head at Leo Burnett, Sydney and as Associate Creative Director at Moon Communications.
Since November 2011 Chris has focussed on his growing interest in photography. His work has been recognised locally and globally including being shortlisted at the World Photo Awards, finalist at Exposure NY, winner Regional Landscape Prize at CLIP 2012, and finalist CLIP 2013, and finalist HeadOff Landscape Prize at the HeadOn Festival 2013. In 2012 he launched a solo exhibition Evidence' that was curated by renowned photographer and curator Sandy Edwards. The show gained a large a mount of PR including being chosen as Critics' Choice in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Chris is available for both creative consulting on advertising projects and commissioned photographic work. Read Less
