Ronald Slabbers Conceptual Illustration
Work Experience
Independant Illustrator, designer.
I’m a Dutch, Amsterdam-based illustrator.
I create visually clever, humorous and conceptual illustrations for national and international clients.
Over four decades I’ve worked for big names, small names. From children’s projects to corporate assignments. And most importantly, I still work for the fun of it. Illustration is a way of life for me.
‘Reliable’ and ‘Experienced’ are just two of my middle names.

Education
Gerrit Rietveld academy
Illustrators Assistent, School of life.
I come from an illustration background. My father, Huub Slabbers (1910-2002), was a multi-tasking artist:
an illustrator, professional photographer, writer, poet and painter. After escaping school at the age of 17, I was my father’s assistant for several years and that’s when I learned the basic tricks of the trade. At the same time I attended art school (Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam). When I was 19, my work was first published by the most trendy Dutch lifestyle magazine of the time (‘Avenue’) and from then onwards, I was soon noticed by a bigger professional audience. I’ve worked in many disciplines: advertising, publishing, puppet and set design for television, animation, furniture accessories, toy design and packaging design.
