My name is Ronald Nyein Zaw Tan and I am a 32-years-old portraitist specializing in men’s fashion, beauty, and photography of the fine art male gender. I was born and raised in Rangoon, Burma—now known as Yangon, Myanmar—during February 1981. I grew up excelling in sciences, mathematics, and deciding to become a pharmacist. I went to UC Davis, studying Applied Physics and Microbiology (Pre-Pharmacy), but came out as a photographer!
For my Applied Physics studies, I had to take an elective and Optics was the only elective open for enrollment and coinciding with my course schedule. Fate, destiny, and serendipity worked alongside me, finally reconnecting me with my dormant true calling and passion in life, when I came out on January 30, 2006. Coming to terms with my homosexuality gave me strength from running away from the truth. With new-found strength and courage, I broke the chains and bondage of academia and re-configured my destiny when I was at my crossroads for furthering my graduate studies.
I caught up with my destiny and passion within the two-year interim—between 2007 and 2009. I established myself as a reputable and trustworthy photographer working out of Los Angeles. I established my publication credibility and remaining on good terms and standing with major men’s modeling agencies across San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York City.
I am a sojourner and dreamer, tirelessly chasing and following my dreams of becoming a successful photographer. I believe in fostering working relationships and building long-lasting professional rapports and camaraderie. I live and function to serve my clients, because they are the source for energizing my creative passions and photography lifeblood.
