Creative and technically skilled on Adobe Creative Suite applications, I produce visual solutions to promote the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation brand, increase participation in our passes and programs, and raise community awareness about our beautiful parks and greenways.

In 2000, I fell in love with graphic design when I was given an opportunity by a business associate who entrusted me with design project. Even though I barely had any technical knowledge at the time, I knew design was in my blood. Since then, it has been a labor of love to continuously work on honing my technical skills by designing for clients, completing tutorials, reading design publications, taking art classes, and connecting with other experienced designers.

Now, with over 10 years of real world, client-focused graphic design experience, I thrive on designing in today's information hungry environment. I design because I love getting the message out in a creative and attention grabbing manner. I'm a geek when it comes to all things design; from my love of typefaces, to the next Adobe upgrade, and being inspired by other designers I follow religiously online.

I love how it feels to add an anchor point or outline a stroke. I love offsetting paths and the smooth feel of tweaking a Bezier curve. I love the perfect gradient and loath the wrong typeface. Layers are like warm blankets to me. Blend me, drop shadow me, or drape me with a pattern overlay. I love it all.

I design because I love how light, color, and form can be put together to create something that makes me feel happy or harrowed, peaceful or perplexed, isolated or included.

I am always learning. Things that make me say "I wish I'd thought of that!" motivate me to continue developing my design skills. Read Less

As a contract designer for over a decade, I enjoyed being commissioned by businesses and non-profit organizations to help them reach their audiences through visual communications. I enjoyed establishing long-term relationships with my clients, while producing quality designs for them, including logos, presentation graphics, t-shirts, editorial layouts, newsletters, postcards, bookmarks, web graphics, posters, handbooks, etc.

Now, as an in-house designer, I am enjoying the process, from beginning to end, of developing a brand while meeting the needs of my internal clients. The variety of projects in my present position enable me to flex my design muscles in print and editorial design, interactive digital signage development, outdoor signage design, logo design, and the list goes on!

I AM AN...

• APPLE-LOVING USER :: Extensive experience in both Mac and PC operating systems (though I way prefer the Mac environment!).

• ADOBE USER AND ENTHUSIAST :: Currently using CS 5.51. My strengths and passions are in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat. I have also enjoyed teaching Continuing Education classes in Photoshop.

• PROFICIENT MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE USER :: Comes in handy and I know a few of the applications like the back of my hand including Word, Power Point, and Excel. I have also taught Continuing Education classes on these applications. Read Less
