This women's accessories fashion shoot was based on a (sick) dream I had, just ripe for a summer "food" issue. Enough said.

<description>SATELLITE OF LOVE
Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photographer: Thomas Rusch
Magazine: CITY Magazine

The idea behind this beauty photo shoot with Thomas was to treat the photos as aerial views of various parts of the earth. We actually went on Google Earth to try and approximate as closely as possible the featured areas, with longitude and latitude.

<title>Zero Gravity</title>
<description>CASTING
Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photograper: Phillip Toledano
Magazine: CITY Magazine

During several photoshoots with Phillip Toledano, I had noticed this antique russian astronaut suit he had bought a while back. "Phil- we have to do something with this suit".

Sure enough, a few weeks later we were shooting an accessories fashion story. We enlisted Larry Q, one of my neighbors, apparently the only person we could find that would fit the part, and fit into the suit.

<title>NOT GUILTY</title>
<description>NOT GUILTY

Art and Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photographer: Matt Hoyle
Fashion Editor: Beverley Hyde
Fashion Styling: Leilin Lopez

Based on the 1957 film directed by Sidnet Lumet, and one of my all-time favorite flicks, 12 angry men was the inspiration for this men's fashion editorial. Not wanting to cast "pretty boy" models for this one, I lucked-out when I did a google search, finding that the cast of the Roundabout Theatre Company was actually rehearsing to take the play on the road. A few calls later, we had the ultimate cast. All 12 members agreed to be part of this shoot, and actually rehearsed their lines for us, giving the story a real feel. Photographer Matt Hoyle brought an amazing point of view and texture to the shoot.

Note: If you haven't seen this movie, you owe it to yourself to rent it from netflix, or at the very least view a few clips on youtube.
For more examples of this kind of creative work, or to see larger images, please visit our portfolio site at Planetfab.com.

Thanks for looking, drop us a note.

<title>Icing on the cake</title>
<description>ICING ON THE CAKE

Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photographer (fashion): Sarah Silver
Photographer (still life): Dwight Eschliman
Fashion Styling: Aileen Marr
Prop Styling: Nissa Quanstrom
Cakes By: Shinmin Li

This project came about from our market editor Whitney Robinson stumbling upon an AMAZING website called " I dream of cake". Based on the west coast, the owner Shinmin Li has an obsession with making just about anything into a cake. After approaching her with the idea of making several handbags out of cakes, she went straight to work. We had the cakes shot out west and had the fashion produced in NY. She was able to get on a plane to NY with one cake so that we could integrate it within at least one fashion shot.
Amusing Anecdote: When she got to the airport, Homeland Security INSISTED that she open the silver bag, not believing for one second that the bag was made entirely out of cake and frosting.

<title>Please Do Not Feed The Bags</title>
<description>Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photographer: Kenji Toma
Prop Styling: Jim Gratson

This Luxury Handbag story sends a mixed message to the reader, an intentional contradiction.
While the job at hand was to feature the latest collections of designer handbags, the intent, and the undertone, was also to bring awareness to the public about what these products represent in the bigger picture. Striving for a more conceptual execution, we turned to ace photographer and longtime friend and collaborator Kenji Toma.

<title>They Might Be Giants</title>
<description>They Might Be Giants
Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photograper: Fabrice Frere
Stylist: Martyn Bourne
Magazine: CITY Magazine

This luxury accessories fashion editorial was photographed by Fabrice Frere and his team at CITY magazine. No photoshop manipulation on this one! By printing backdrops on matte paper, we were able to create a setting for the little peeps, which were bought in a toy train store. Some of the images have a slight dark humor to them if you look closely :-)

<title>Penitentiary</title>
<description>PENITENTIARY
Creative Director: Fabrice Frere
Photographer: Kenji Toma

This project came about from some "Floaty Pens" we had come across in the office, you know, those little pens that you can tip back and forth to reveal something else inside them. We developed the idea to use these as the starting point for a women's bathing-suit story in a summer issue. Striving for the more conceptual, I turned to ace photographer and longtime friend and collaborator Kenji Toma. The story line was that of a man doing time in a penitentiary, having a bizarre obsession with these pens. The story was nominated for an ASME award in photography, one of the highest honors in the industry.

The story was also noticed by a website dedicated to Floaty Pens called "Float About ".

For more examples of work that we did with Kenji Toma, please visit our portfolio site at planetfab.com.
