My photographic work includes studies in decay, up-close and personal floral photographs, and taking 'another look' at the everyday and mundane. I am drawn to the details and am fascinated by the many ways in which it is possible to view and present that which we may take for granted.

I also undertake portraiture commissions (including children and babies), and social ceremony photography. My portraiture style is generally informal and I aim to capture the person in a relaxed atmosphere and using only natural light. I specialise in portraits of women taken in their own homes and enjoy the challenge of photographing a woman who believes she is not photogenic (and proving her wrong!).

I use available light in the main, although sometimes it is necessary to use flash for parties. My social photography style is a blend of reportage and portraiture, although the latter is more likely to be of the candid variety. I am currently researching the life and works of master stained glass artist Lawrence Stanley Lee (1909 - 2011) and am making a photographic record of his windows and other works. This research has fed into my current degree work.

I am also a keen genealogist and undertake historical research into areas such as a particular street or even small villages. My latest projects investigate the histories of people to whom old postcards were sent (pre 1910), and sitters and photographers from 19th century cartes de visite.
