Biography
Over the last two decades I've worked on various research and development projects in the area of optical networking - see my linkedin profile for more details. While I enjoy my high-tech career, my real passion is painting. I’ve painted for most of my life in various venues under the instruction of many good teachers, amongst which several renowed Israeli artistc such as Dan Livni, Yaakov Mishori, and Francine Lasri.

Artist Statement
I am most interested in creating paintings with a rough, industrial, somewhat unpolished feel. To this end, I am using thick brushes and Acrylic, typically with little or no water and, often times I leave parts of the canvas uncovered by paint. I also use corrugated brown cardboard to achieve this feel.
At the same time, I’m interested in adhering to certain aesthetic values in my work, and keep them somewhat figurative. I mostly use photographs for my inspiration and spend much of my painting-time selecting the photograph with the right composition. As a result, many of the paintings depict moments frozen in time.
I am interested in constantly experimenting with different approaches rather than adhering to a fixed style. At the same time, I’m not interested in varying my techniques and materials, as my main challenge is in composition and other fundamental pictorial values.
