Work Experience

O'Connor Graphic Design Inc

Graphic designer, Owner

As a freelance graphic designer, I’ve assisted over 60 companies, usually with 2,000 employees or less with marketing campaigns and collateral for print and web. Implemented marketing plans with budget and timeline constraints. Collaborated with printers, attorneys, business consultants, marketing consultants, media buyers, advertising executives, art directors, website programmers and developers, and other graphic designers. I’ve wowed the crowds at networking events and prepared presentations for public speaking at business events. As a company of one, I’ve also been responsible for internal marketing and sales, hiring and supervising administrative staff, mentoring junior graphic designers and tolerating web developers.

Bark Busters USA

Graphic designer, Webmaster

Despite a major allergy to canines, I helped to grow this worldwide dog-training franchise Entrepreneur Magazine Top 100 business from 20 franchises to over 100 in one year. Created and maintained marketing collateral, worked in coordination with the national marketing director, president and chief operating officer of the company. Assisted in training of the national franchise owner network by providing visual aids and coordinating itineraries and events for 10 – 20 franchisees for a three-week period every three months. Provided customer care and franchise owner. Supervised and trained a junior graphic designer and administrative assistant.

Loma Linda University Medical Center

My Favorite Job Ever as a Corporate Graphic Designer

Planning, designing and implementation of marketing efforts to 15 account executives and 20 sub-organizations within a world-famous non-profit medical institution in Southern California. Team planning and collaboration with other graphic designers, art directors, and upper management. Major responsibility maintaining digital assets and abiding by graphic standards. We were held to a high standard of ethics and personal conduct because of their religious affiliation with the Seventh Day Adventist church. Every once in a while, they let me plan a birthday party.

Colour Concepts Printing Company

Production Artist, Graphic Designer

Preflighted, trapped, stripped and ripped files for film output and offset printing. (Designers usually don’t have to strip nowadays for money, now that everything is digital. A lot has changed in the last decade!) Designed brochures, flyers, business cards and other marketing materials for customers of the print shop. Collaborated with other lowly graphic designers and power-tripping account executives.
2001 - 2002 Riverside, California, United States

Trademark Cosmetics

Graphic Designer

This is the job I really cut my teeth on as a green designer. I was responsible for overseeing all customer and company artwork while tolerating a constant assault of strange chemical smells working on the floor directly above the laboratory. Designed labels for private label cosmetic products in collaboration with five internal account executives. Designed internal marketing materials. Prepared graphics for silk screen printing onto plastic bottles and jars. Worked full-time and while holding a full course load earning my degree. Supervised and trained a junior graphic designer.
2000 - 2001 Riverside, California, United States
