Dodder Bridge

This project is the winning entry in an international open design competition for a new bridge across the river Dodder in central Dubli. The concept of the bridge is to create a hybrid of infrastructure and public amenity by providing generous seating and deck width across the span for pedestrians to pause and enjoy the views of the river.

The structural design avoids aerial acrobatics in favour of a more subtle and unexpected solution which takes the constraints imposed by river channel clearance so that the main central spine passes above the deck on the lower south bank creating the extended seating area.
