Natalie Soysa is a wearer of many creative hats, she is a writer, producer, curator, creative consultant, vocalist and thespian – but her primary and foremost passion is photography.

She retired from her 13 year career in advertising in 2010 and picked up her first camera soon after. Over the past 4 years, she has combined photography with her existing resources of idea generation, writing & design to help her become an artist and advocate of social issues.

Natalie has a large body of photographs in travel, conceptual portraiture, social documentary and art photography. She has been exhibited 5 times in both Sri Lanka & India and has been a guest speaker at the Photographic Society of Sri Lanka. She was awarded a grant along with fellow photographer Sachini Perera to produce a photography and audio based documentary for award winning citizens journalism site GROUNDVIEWS, mapping the lives of Sri Lankan women over the past 30 years in August 2013. The documentary went on to be featured at the Colombo Art Biennale in January 2014.

Natalie was invited to share her story and the stories of the myriad post-war artistes she has discovered along the way at TEDx in Sri Lanka in November 2012.

She currently heads the arts programme at the British Council in Sri Lanka, where she conceptualized and runs conceptual projects in the country, creating opportunities for artistes from UK, Sri Lanka and the region.
