Graphic design is visual communication. It changes people’s perspective; it informs, persuades, and even challenges us to think about ideas from multiple perspectives. My goals for my design work are to help people see that there is order and purpose in the world; that amid the chaos there is a bigger picture, a grander scheme.
Many of my design decisions are made based on what I see from day to day. Buildings, cars, furniture, even posters and packaging are all sources of inspiration for me. Each conveys purpose and design which guides me in my goal to visually communicate. I select my materials based on what is available to me and how well I can handle them. The look and feel of my work comes from my research. If I design for a museum, I research what real museums look like; if I design for a bank, I research what real banks look like.
Much of my current work is rather formal and corporate because of the subjects I have chosen. It is very geometric, clean, and basic. I enjoy simplicity because I feel it gets the message across more clearly. My style stems from my experiences while growing up in Europe and being influenced by a culture and language different from my own. In all of my work I want to explore the deeper meaning behind the message and produce a work that not only communicates but also changes people’s perspective. Read Less
