I'm an award-winning editorial designer and art director based in Madrid, Spain. I operate my own design studio, Buckenmeyer & Co., focused on editorial, Web and corporate communications design. I also teach visual communication and digital content management and design at IE School of Communication, the sister school of Madrid's world-renowned IE Business School.

I was the creative force and art director behind El Economista, the Spanish business newspaper launched in 2006 that was named a World's Best-Designed Newspaper™ by the Society of News Design. I've had the privilege of working closely with some of the world's best journalists and designers as a consultant or on staff of companies such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and El Mundo (Madrid) and have been a team member of numerous editorial consulting projects the world over. My individual and collaborative work in journalism design and has won a variety of citations from the Society of News Design (SND), the Society of Publication Designers (SPD) and the Type Directors Club (TDC).
