Mauro has always been a photographer, first with his eyes, then with his mind, and finally - when his uncle lends him the legendary Canon FTB – he tries to transfer to film the whole hodgepodge of visions that accompanied him for some time.
The growth of his passion for this new mode of expression is exponential.
No day passes in which he does not think about how to experiment with the new techniques learned by reading, watching and studying the great photographers.
The technical bases may seem to exclude a creative path, but life is strange, and after a diploma and years of work in complementary but not very creative sectors, he decides to drop everything to devote himself to photography full time. At first, he tries with editorial photography, and his photos get published on Oasis, Gulliver and Airone, as well as on smaller and local magazines.
He contributes to the realization of some photographic books, but soon realizes that this world is very limiting in terms of creativity and income.
In this period, the Lessinia regional park buys his photos for a traveling exhibition and for advertising. Since then, he devotes himself to advertising photography, which he
practices with great satisfaction for over 15 years.
Many companies have relied on Mauro's ability to transform ideas into pictures: Levante, San Pellegrino, Ferroli, Sarah Borghi, Don Perignon, Spumanti Ferrari, Gruppo Italiano Vini, Unparalleled South African Tours, Marcolini Marmi, Freemood, Paluani, Carrera and many more.
He has been teaching digital photography and photo editing at the International Center for Photography “Scavi Scaligeri” (Verona) for 6 years.
He was director of photography for several commercials, including Dalter, cartiere Cordenons, ceramiche Petracer's, Rossetto supermercati and Paluani.
For several years he has been image and marketing consultant for various companies. Nature photography is Mauro’s greatest passion and led him to travel around the world: South Africa, Zambia, Borneo, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and almost all European countries except the Scandinavian peninsula.
In recent years he has cultivated his “artistic soul” by participating to a group exhibition on the body at the “La Giarina” gallery in Verona.
He has also undertaken a research project on “the world of the different”:
This searches the world differently: BDSM, LATEX, ESCORT. Some of his photos have been included in the book BDSM and he has published a limited edition book titled: FETISH.
Because of his work, Mauro must master many different technologies, both traditional and digital, and he must continually explore new and creative formulas in order to respond to his customers’ requests. As he says:
you never cease to be a photographer, because the eyes always turn what surrounds us into images / visions, and the photographer cannot but feel an uncontrollable desire to turn them into pictures.

“Who is master in the art of living does not distinguish between his job and his free time,
between his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He pursues his vision of excellence in anything he does, leaving the others to decide if he is working or playing. He always thinks he is doing both at the same time”. Zen proverb.
Mauro’s new dimension of Mauro is more oriented to art, to a new way of communicating the art that's inside him through new forms of expression, both for what concerns tools and contents.
He has recently proposed an exhibition titled: ALTERED REALITY/ALTERING REALITY?

My artistic research is always based on the observation of what is around me.
Interpreting the behaviors and attitudes of people and animals has been an ongoing challenge. Art for me is a continuous transformation of what I see and hear.
In my work, I put my emotions and my desperation, trying to raise questions in the observers’ minds.

I have experienced many different worlds, I use my creativity for working and I learn from everyone. I see reality as a collection of wonders ruined by the stupidity of humankind; I see beautiful bodies that touch each other but are nothing else than goods; I see the attempt to possess things at the expense of harmony. This is what I see, and everything I see I try to turn into art.

Pensiero Zen.Mauro Magagna Read Less
