Mark S. Gagne is an artist who once resided in the Greater Sudbury area of Northern Ontario, but now makes his home in Peterborough, Ontario. Mark is passionate about photography, particularly a theme he calls “"the passage of time"”. Many would call his work “urban decay”, but Mark feels that is an overly simple and limiting title. Instead, he feels “truly drawn to the effects of time on what surrounds us every day, whether the decay is caused by mankind or natural forces”. He feels that he is truly alive in spaces that are no longer fit for use.

Art has had a place in Mark's life for as long as he can remember. In high school, he majored in drafting and architecture. In 2003, he graduated from Cambrian College in Greater Sudbury. He is trained in a number of different artistic mediums, but photography is his greatest passion.

His work has been exhibited in galleries, cafes, restaurants, festivals and busy art markets. Mark has also self-published six photo books showcasing his exploration photography and other creative projects.

In 2010, he opened the art gallery Creative Spark, showcasing his own work as well as other emerging artists. The summer of 2012 will mark the third year in a row that Creative Spark Gallery will host the Arts Village at the Northern Lights Festival Boreal in Sudbury, Ontario. Read Less
