I am an illustrator, designer, and musician living outside Boston.
When I was a child, my parents gave me comic books as a way to make reading fun. Instead of turning me into a voracious bookworm, the illustrated stories introduced me to the wonderful world of superheroes. The ensuing childhood obsession resulted in a mountain of sketchbooks filled cover to cover, a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and a lifelong love of illustration. To this day, my life and work are heavily infused with the superhero mythology and imagery.
I try to make something every day, be it a drawing or a batch of cookies. Pursuing creativity is thrilling for me, and I try to express that exuberance in my work. If I'm drawing and laughing simultaneously, it's my hope that you'll laugh when you see the results. Art is the ultimate communicator, our best candidate for universal language. Art and math, anyway. And food. You can't forget food.
I grew up in suburban New York, was educated in Baltimore, and am now living just outside Boston. I love it up here, despite the incomprehensible roads and seemingly endless winters. I am engaged to a wonderful young lady named Melissa Chao. She's an extraordinarily gifted and hard-working bookbinder, and I highly recommend you check out her work.
I have a profound love of music, and have been singing and performing for longer than I can recall. Thankfully, I have the opportunity to sing eclectic a cappella with Common Sound, a fantastic group of music geeks who can never seem to get enough harmony.
