There is a reason why so many of us--artists, scientists, writers--are born to examine and to record. In the last 100 years, the humankind has experienced changes which have re-shaped the face of humanity as we know it. Einstein's Theory of Relativity has been published. The mapping of human DNA has been completed. New inventions: color photography. the computer. the video game. the space craft. the car. the radio. TV. instant coffee. the A-bomb. neon lights. penicillin. genetic engineering. the electric shaver. liposuction. laser printing. super glue. oral contraceptives. McDonald's. MRI.
We have invented the internet and now most who have access to it are spontaneously recording and sharing their daily experiences, which effectively makes it function as a 'hive mind'. Our interaction with our environment, and each other, has changed irrevocably, as a result of this new way of obtaining information--our lives have become dependent on this process. I am interested in recording the nuances of such interactions, recording the human, it's environment, now irrevocably changed, places where we are absent or present, places where we seek to be. The inner, and the outer landscape.
