Luke Andrew Batten is an award winning Australian designer who has worked professionally in the fields of Product Design and Graphic Design since 2006. His work experience spans both the public and private sectors and includes working in-house for several prominent Australian Industrial Design consultancies, working at the University of Canberra and freelancing for a range of design related companies.
His work has been recognised through several major awards including 3rd Place, in the 2007 Design Institute of Australia, Industrial Design Graduate of the Year Awards and the 2011, Australian National University, Helmut Lueckenhausen Prize for Furniture.
Much of Luke’s recent Product Design explores user-product interfaces and material structures within a wooden furniture context. This physical experience imperative investigates the physical, intellectual and psychological connections made between the user and product. Whilst the material imperative seeks to comprehend and exploit material properties and structures.
Such a design ethic seeks to create considered, meaningful and unique outcomes. Read Less
