LM Designs is a small artisan company specializing in the design and creation of avant-garde bespoke and limited edition sculptural lighting with a focus on preserving the tradition of fine craftsmanship.
Originally established as Lumina Design by artist Luiza Milewicz, it has evolved with a collaborative emphasis on the design approach, expanding the professional team to include industrial designer Mark Howard.
Since 2010 LM Designs has produced work for commission, exhibition and retail. Their lighting is a striking feature in any environment and projects vary from private residences to commercial settings. Each piece is designed and hand-crafted in their Sydney-based studio to the upmost standards. The colours, sizes, and finishes of each project are all tailored to individual specifications to ensure that the work sits perfectly within its destined environment.
Many of the works are developed from observations in nature and the human form, expressing a sense of pattern and movement by using light as the actual sculpting medium. These works introduce the light source through the specialized use of fibre optics, which combined with colour and form, give the work a unique sculptural quality.
Through a combination of traditional textile techniques, modern industrial processes, and precious and non-precious materials, each light becomes an object of beauty and function, crossing boundaries between art, fashion, and product design. Read Less
