Lucio Regner

Berlin, Germany
I’m a creative freelancer. Brazilian Breed. My original background is art direction and graphic design. However, my love for social media, new technologies and pop culture, made me believe that there should not be a distinction between traditional and digital campaigns. So what drives me, is to develop great ideas that live anywhere, regardless of the canvas where it is being painted. Eager to produce ideas which blur the limits between traditional and digital, artwork and advertising, clear message and intricate storytelling, living as cross-platform ideas, becoming awarded integrated cases. Yeah, awards are nice. Although what pleases me even more, is when I’m able to come up with an idea so popular, that a whole nation is talking about and engaging with it. Because I believe the best way is, instead of a brand dictate what it has to say, it should establish long lasting dialogues that engages and builds strong relationships with its consumers. A situation where the outcome of this encounters, of companies and consumers, is something mutually beneficial, profitable and lasting. Then, at the end of the day, when you sit at your favorite coffee shop and you hear the waiter talking all enthusiastic about the campaign you did, you realize “Now, this is really rewarding”. This is when I got my job really well done.

In light of this, I’m an inventive thinker passionate for innovation. Curious about technology and always challenging to push it beyond its boundaries. An observer of human behaviour, conscious about the zeitgeist, but still able to glimpse the new, the never-seen-before, always with a fun and functional approach. By the way If I’m not having fun, I’m probably doing something wrong. I’m an enthusiast for solving small and big problems, growing small and large businesses, making brands famous. Bringing all this to life together, has made me a valuable asset in the team, continuously helping to grow client’s business inside the agencies I’ve worked for.

What can I do as a creative?

• CONCEPT: developing solid conceptual ideas and formats for advertising, interactive, experiential and design projects, that implement strategy and direction from the brief. Always taking good care of the design and artistic direction of them, with craftsmanship in design and art direction. Showing good Perceptivity, sensitivity and Imagination.

• EXECUTE: Deliver world-class executions in multiple mediums with proven design and production techniques. Partnering with production to ensure development of formats that achieve the strategic objectives outlined and maximize the use of the production budget. Experienced in handling productions and post-productions for broadcast, print, and digital mediums.
Small and big shootings, from a coke-bottle-on-a-cutout-background-with-the-perfect-drops
to football-stars-in-action-with-only-5-minutes-to-make-the-perfect-click-happen,
I’ve already done it.

• SELL: I have great ability to think independently, quickly while maintaining client's and agency’s values at all times. Proactively developing and leading client relationships, with the ability to fully understand, suggest and effectively communicate appropriate creative solutions that generate new business. Creatively lead pitches and competently presenting to prospective clients. Good presentation skills.

• MANAGE: I also have experience leading creative teams and collaborative, multi-functional teams, with great teamwork and collaboration skills. Offering guidance, teaching and mentoring members of the Creative department in developing ideas further. Continuously providing feedback to, and consultations with, on all levels of staff to keep good workflow of the projects. Competence to Identify team members’ training and development needs. Capacity to deploy resources in the most efficient way possible and identify permanent and freelance recruitment needs.

Since May, 2012, inspired by the freedom and a more flexible schedule to have time for my personal projects, I became a creative freelancer. However over my 14 years of experience, I had the chance to work in great places like JWT/SP and TBWA/Berlin, creating successful cases for projects across LatAm, U.S and Europe. Special places Where I was lucky enough to work with some amazing people of our industry – like Fernando Vega Olmos and Lee Clow – on some of the world’s biggest and coolest brands (Coca-Cola, adidas, Ford, Unilever, McDonalds, Absolut, among many others). I had even more luck to have some of my work recognized in some of the best award shows like D&AD, Clio, NY Festivals, One Show Interactive, FWA, London International Awards, Epica Awards, Fiap, El ojo, Creative Club of São Paulo, Effie awards, Yahoo Big Idea Chair, Wave Festival, Profissionais do Ano Rede Globo, among others. Besides having some of my work featured in some of the most influential advertising publications like the reel magazine and contagious magazine.

Perestroika

Invited Professor

Perestroika is a Creative Activity School based in Brazil and initiatives in 3 different states.
It offers courses in fields where creativity is quite evident, or just as well, it brings a creative approach to more conservatives subjects. From gastronomy to design, from entrepreneurship to fashion, from digital communications to architecture, from literature to advertising.

Perestroika has developed its own methodology called Experience Education.
It’s a mashup of what we know about classic education and contemporary learning movements, plus all the heritage from Digital Revolution. At Perestroika the main goal is: the course has to be a peak/one-in-a-lifetime experience. It works similar to a Hub, where people with a contemporary mindset meet and start to spread your ideas and projects. Taking this into account content is king at Perestroika. This is why it has been having the main authorities - national and international - to teach at its classes.

• I’m an invited professor in the course that originated everything, it is called “Molotov” and it is part of the advertising branch of the school. Speeching about integrated campaigns and more lately about international creative career management.

Accounts: John Deere, Grendene (women’s fashion footwear), Lebon-Groupe Doux (Consumer goods), Unimed (health insurances), Kildare (men’s footwear), APAE (Down Syndrome Support Group), Unisinos University & Anchieta School (educational institutions) among some others.

Here is where my career began, from an Internship, to Assistant Art Director, to Junior Art Director until getting to the position of Senior Art Director.

•My responsibilities were, concepting, developing and presenting campaigns and executions like print, OOH, design, POP, events & fairs, broadcasting for all media: radio-TV-cinema-online, as well as basic online strategies and executions in the pre-youtube era, the time where viral videos were sent by email as *.mpg files.

•In 2005, won the prestigious TV Globo’s Professionals of the year Award, in the national category. Something really rare to happen with an agency outside the São Paulo market.

•Helped Escala to become agency of the year in the major award festival of its market at least 5 times in the 8 years I worked there. Winning a couple of Grands Prix, and a considerable amount of Golds, Silver and Bronze awards.
