I began my career in the creative industry in 1987 where I was doing illustration for graphic novels (comics) before progressing onto 2D and then 3D animation. I also develop and deliver training programs with passion for the creative industry in the areas of design and animation, giving rise to very distinct results from trainees. At the most recent stint at Q-Plus Design, I helped bag 11 international design awards for annual reports and brought in numerous new accounts. I aim always to deliver visual communications that inspire, influence and involve. I am currently a Project Manager at Netsarius LLP.
I also dabble with fashion and jewelry design on the side. I play piano/keyboards in a smooth jazz band and am part of a very active percussion ensemble. I am in the midst of refining myself as an artist and human being.
Please feel free to add comments to my work so I know what your thoughts are. Thanks.
My design style?
It's very difficult to define this. Design is a visual language that has to communicate what the clients want and need to say of themselves and I use a different part of my visual vocabulary for each job. One client's work may look totally opposite to another's. I would love for every piece of my work to look like some kind of art gallery brochure but that's not what my clients' businesses are all about unless it really is an art gallery. When you are in the service industry, you learn to put aside your personal preferences and steer towards the language your client wants to speak and at the same time impart something fresh to it. Awards, if any, are just a by-product of good conceptual design.
My greatest achievement?
When my deaf class of software trainees showed me they understood all my lessons perfectly and could actually use the software applications I was teaching them — namely, Photoshop, Freehand, Flash and Lightwave 3D. They had no industry experience or art background. Nothing in the world could ever beat that feeling and no amount of money could ever buy that. Read Less
