Leigh Ellen Kosloski currently freelances as a graphic designer and creative director in Austin, Texas for public relations firms, business owners and non-profit organizations. Previously, she creatively directed Siesta Key University, a concept boutique located in Siesta Key, Florida. Leigh designed all products, promotional and environmental materials for the company.
Leigh is a 2005 graduate of Lehigh University, located in Pennsylvania and ranked 37th amongst all universities by U.S. News. At the university, Leigh majored in journalism with a minor in fine art. Although graduating at the top of her class, she realized that her true passion and talent rests in art and design. Opting not to follow with a master’s degree in journalism, Leigh was accepted after extensive application procedures to New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology.
Enrolled in a progressive three year program, Leigh earned a bachelor's of fine arts in graphic design, as well as an associate's degree in communications design. During the course of her studies at FIT, Leigh worked closely we her design mentor, Elsa Giannikoudakis of Greek Conde Nast, assisting in various fashion centric ventures. Leigh received copywriter credits for her work interviewing DKNY Vice President Peter Speliopoulos. In addition to various freelance projects and her work assisting Ms. Giannakoudakis, Leigh interned with BRDAR Advertising. The boutique advertising firm located in SOHO was under the direction of Visnja Brdar, former creative director at the prestigious Baron and Baron advertising firm. As an intern, Leigh worked on projects for the likes of Corcoran Sunshine and Club Monaco.
Post graduation, Leigh paid her dues working a less than favorable job in newspaper advertising, while continuing to freelance and expand her skills as a designer, artist and writer. Whenever possible, she traveled seeking new experiences and inspirations, opening gaining creative gigs along the way. She continued to freelance, creating promotional materials primarily for musical artists and small businesses before teaming up with mother/daughter duo JoEllen and Brooke Mettille to create "Siesta Key University."
A music lover, much of her work is derived from a synesthesic relationship with sound. However, she is also influenced by many classical art forms and movements, including the styles of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. She never stops exercising her skills, exploring new mediums and aesthetics, all while keeping up with the latest technological advances in graphic design. The creation of intellectual and diversely marketable designs are her constant aim in life.
When not dreaming up fresh ideas and creating beauty, Leigh travels, spends time with friends and explores every type of music imaginable. She also enjoys film, reading and some quality time with her cat, "Buddy Guy," named after the famous blues musician. Often you will find her feverishly working with good old pen and paper until the break of dawn.
