I began very early as an entrepreneur, inventor and innovator marketing my artwork and computer graphics programming with video games, back in the days of peeks, pokes, and sprites at age 8 with a C64. In high school, I learned and assisted various businesses, training executives and staff to transform business operations and leverage computing power for increased profits and cost savings. I facilitated implementation of organization-wide networked systems using advanced hardware and technology, preparing high-quality documentation with easy-to-follow instructions where none was available. In college, I pioneered the University of Oregon digital arts program before it existed, weaving coursework from many disciplines: architecture, music, journalism and communication, theater, literature, animation, pre-law, and more.
I had the pleasure of co-founding three nonprofit organizations including a creative business and media production center for entrepreneurial youth in a rural community where few job opportunities were advertised. I helped students expand their vision and "listen to the market." Working closely with inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs, I enjoyed helping them share their visions and realize their passionate pursuits.
I blazed a new trail for creative artists, computer programmers, and social entrepreneurs to gain acceptance into programs such as the University of Oregon graduate programs for Public Administration and Not-for-Profit Management, Portland State University's Hatfield School of Government, eGovernment internship, and the State of Oregon's PROMISE internship programs. I intensively studied decision-making, political science, philanthropy, community development, data modeling and more. Incredible opportunities, individuals, teams and software have afforded such awesome productions as the Oregon Benchmarks web site, the DMAP Dashboard, and the Crater Lake 3D Bathymetry Fly-Through and Limnology Curriculum for K-12 Students.
These days, my work continues with colleagues to inform and support meaningful public-policy decision-making at every level, leveraging technology and contributing tools, designing digital dashboards, information architecture, multimedia video production, plus writing a few poems and songs along the way.
