Outside the Box

Outside the Box is a documentary film about a nice Jewish girl from a nice Jewish family who found out at the age of 18 that her biological father is Black. Ten years after finding out that she is half-Black, filmmaker Lacey Schwartz sets out to connect the seemingly disparate pieces of her identity - even if not everyone is ready to acknowledge that diversity. On her journey, Lacey will explore her connection to one of the most fascinating and least understood subcultures in America, Black Jews, and their traditions, heroes, heritage, roots and identity. Outside the Box is at the beginning stages of principal photography with plans to complete production in 2007 and begin post-production in 2008.
