My name is Kira Rasure, and I am in my graduating year of Columbia College Chicago, where I study Film and Traditional Animation. I originally began drawing when I realized that I could use my cartooning skills to manipulate other people into liking me, which, as a kid with a series of really bad haircuts, was a good thing. Because of art, and because my mother refused to buy me any clothes that weren't ill-fitting and some shade of khaki, I learned the importance of making friends with my personality. Art has a way of making people stop and wonder, it allows them to know something outside of themselves on a deeper level. In every facet of my life, this lesson, this childish manipulation of other peoples' affection, has stuck with me, morphed into a necessity to share, to tell stories and entertain, to make bad jokes and, occasionally, a really good one. It has become a way for me to say 'Look! See how I see. You might see yourself too.' Read Less
