Cardboardia: create, earn, play!

'Cardboardia' is an international project combining a range of artistic disciplines focused on the creation of a creative community. The participants organize and take part in various cultural projects together. The major project is “Cardboard Town” - the creation of a temporary virtual state called Cardboardia in the territory of different countries.

The aim and purposes of the project

1. Generating of a creative participatory artistic ad social community focused on the coming together of people of different ages

2. Formation of a new public platform for creative dialogue, self-expression and joint activity;

3. Developing a system of opportunities for joint creativity with people of different professions and hobbies, any age and any educational level, including the young and with professional artists, designers, architects, managers, actors and musicians;

4. Promotion of a platform for demonstration of new educational and public initiatives;

5. Development new interactive technologies with local creative communities, educational and charitable organizations and the general public.

Towns of Cardboardia

“Cardboard Town” is the major event of Cardboardia. It is a tremendous social and cultural event which lasts one or several days.

The main visitors of Cardboard Town are family with children, young people and creative workers plus everybody who likes artistic and active events.

Each Cardboard Town is:

- An Ecological project. The major material of which Cardboard Town is built is cardboard - easy for constructing, easy for recycling. We work directly with manufacturers. For all other construction choices, preference is given to recyclable materials.

- Reality 2.0 The maintenance of Cardboard Town is created by its visitors. It works as an analogy with social networks on the Internet (the web 2.0 protocol) - registered participants of Cardboardia are given some basic tools and instructions. Then they make their own decision how to help create the Town’s environment.

- A social initiative. In Cardboard Town the visitor is not merely a spectator, but has the opportunity to organize programs, to create an art-object or even to become a co-creator and a full citizen (personage) of Cardboardia. It is important to note, that the involvement in such a fully engaging economic-social game makes a full and exciting in depth experience for the visitor.

- An art and educational project of a very wide range. Exhibitions, performances, concerts, sports, theatrical performances, creative workshops, lectures, poetic evenings, trainings, conferences - all this is incorporated into the overall concept of "Cardboardia". There are a lot of events presented by partners, noncommercial, commercial and charitable organizations, by the local art-community and other actions, held on the Central Square of Cardboard Town every day.

Cardboardia is an excellent alternative to hands off, non participatory art-projects. Art is created as a game here.

- International project
Citizens of different countries and representatives of various cultures take part in the creation and life of Cardboard Town,

- Children friendly Town.
Children have equal right with adults, they can take part in the organization of Town events and be involved in the Town management.

- Cooperation
The most effective way the organization of Cardboard Town takes place is as an independent event for example, during a city holiday.

We are interested in collaborating with cultural funds, festivals, and management of mass entertainments.

You can draw, you can dance, you can go in for sports in cardboard stadium or simply walk and stare at how other people works. Results
Participants of community make experiments in different areas and open new opportunities for themselves. Some art units and commercial companies have already been organized as part of Cardboardia project. Members of community support each other, participate in mutual projects inside Cardboardia and outside of it.

Plans

1. Consolidation of Cardboardia community in Russia. Materialization of Cardboardia in different regions of Russia.

2. Development of international Cardboardia community. Event organization in Europe, Australia and the USA;

3. Creation and registration of the application for declaration Cardboardia as the state without constant territory.
