What it's all about..
Having been raised Catholic, educated as a commercial artist, and presently far from either, my artistic practice as a painter is centered on the deconstruction of persuasive content and imagery in religion and commercialism. My research aims to explore the phenomenon that is the manipulation of truth by rampant consumer driven institutions and how it’s comparable to the religious authorities during the pre-age of enlightenment. Both institutions have constructed their own truths and manipulated them to their own self serving ends. My work draws parallels between their tactics of persuasion such as icon worship and the influential dogma that allude to or state that people are inadequate, impure or incomplete and can reach fulfillment by following a prescribed doctrine.
